The Ya Ge Chorus Group, originally known as the Chinese Community Chorus, was founded in June 1996. The mission is to enhance fellowship among music lovers within the Chinese community and also to share Chinese music and folk songs with the Greater Richmond community. The group practice is held at the Chinese Baptist Church every other Saturday morning from 10:00 to 12:00 AM.

Mrs. Peiling Zhao is the director. Mrs. Zhao graduated from Nanjing Normal University with a major in Vocal Music in 1982. She performed as a soprano soloist with the Jiangsu Ensemble and returned to Nanjing Normal University to teach Vocal Music until she moved to the United States in 1987. She served as the Music Director of the Chinese Baptist Church of Richmond for two years. Presently, she is the Minister of Music at Mt. Hermon Baptist Church. She has been teaching private piano and vocal lessons since 1990.

Organization of Chinese American - Central Virginia Chapter (OCA-CVC) was founded in Richmond, Virginia in August 1978. OCA-CVC is a chapter organization to its parent national organization. The national OCA has 80 affiliated chapters in the United States and its primary focus is to promote civic involvement and the advocacy of rights of Chinese and other Asian Americans.

The Richmond Tzu Chi Chapter maintains a very busy schedule. Every Wednesday they provide Microsoft Office training at a local women's shelter, and every Thursday they do Meals on Wheels. On the third Thursday of the month, they also distribute food at Richmond's First Ministry Emergency Shelter, and they serve every other month at a local men's shelter.
